The plains in I'queyer had become the huntress's friend since the fire, but as she crossed over this time, she was not following her nose the way she had several times before. Instead, she allowed only her paws to carry her with more ease than they had in the recent past. Hunger no longer gnawed at her constantly since she had finally given into it and started to feast more than she had been. Now, her frame was no longer fragile looking as it filled out again, the white on her face and other parts of her coat, starting to show through again.
At first glance, she was sure that others would not have known that she had not been feeding well since the fire. But now, as she followed the paws that lead her to who knew where, Skye allowed her mind to stray slightly, though no fully so she was still aware of the world around her. Especially of the small herd of deer that she had spooked up in her wide circle around around them. She had planned on steering clear of them to allow them to continue grazing in peace, but a swift movement of her tail it seemed, caught a young buck's attention before they all took off. Even though she had not been facing them.
No, she remained facing forward, only an ear flickering briefly toward the startled creatures. Her golden yellow gaze however, never faltered as it remained on an unknown world. One where she had been able to explore and have someone run along side of her. Where she seemed to have lived a better life than the one she truly lived up until a white wolf known as Silver brought her toward her new home and position among Ananke. They were a friendly pack, but even they were limited to what all they were able to do outside of their own pack land. She was grateful that Aveline had bordered the loner lands that she still most frequently visited.
It was always a peaceful escape and usually, held calm encounters compared to the other lands that bordered them. Though Skye had not yet fully tested out her limits among the other lands aside from the sandy lands on the other side of the waters that she accidentally encountered. The thought of going back there for any reason sent a shiver down the female's spine, rising fur on her back slightly.
A silent growl rumbled in her chest as she shook the memory from her head and refocused her full attention on the land around her. The deer that she had startled up a while back were now out of her sights, but their scent still lingered in her nostrils. A sneeze couldn't even clear them of the smell as her mouth soon began to water from just the thought.
If she was to hunt now, she would have to drag the prey back to Aveline for the pack since she was sure she would not be able to eat but a few small bites before she would begin to feel full. So rather than hunting down the deer that haunted her, she decided she would try and find something smaller. A hare maybe. Where ever those things were hiding now with the cooler weather falling upon the land. This she only knew because no matter where she traveled, the wind broke through her pelt to bring chills to the skin hidden underneath.
Maybe even a squirrel would settle with her, if she could find those too. Even with leaves falling around the trees, the little things still managed to hide well in the trees that they called their homes. But of course, they also always remained well out of reach for a creature that did not climb anything but hills. Skye wasn't even sure if she dared to climb the mountains that she always saw in the distance, where ever it was they stood, towering over the world more than simple clouds did.
Snorting, Skye tilted her head back to look up once she reached a tree, but saw nothing of life aside from birds that made all sorts of racket above her head. A quick growl at them, the femme turned her tail around and headed off to find whatever she could for a small meal before heading back to Aveline for a while. There had to be something small still out running around. Right? Or had everything turned to hide for the colder seasons already? That, it was beginning to seem as all she was able to find were the much larger than what she was wanting, only bringing small frustrations to the female.
