Her slight frame started to relax against him and the brute. For a few moments he began to hope that she was beginning to accept her fate. That it wouldn't be a constant battle just to keep her with him. With time he knew he would break her and that she would learn to be his. While he wanted her compliance he didn't want to break her spirit. Whatever fire it was inside of her eyes needed to remain inside of her. That was what drew him to her with so much fervor. This was just day one though. Time could only tell how he would feel tomorrow or a week from now. All he knew was that he needed her right here beside him in this very moment. There was something inside of him that liked to see her weak and helpless, at least against him. Seeing her here, unable to escape him made some dark and twisted part of him satisfied. It was something that only she would be able to satisfy.
Only when his words escaped did he feel her stiffen against him. No longer did she accept the comfort he offered, at least not openly. He knew her body must be in a good deal of pain after rejecting the food, but it would be out of character for her to so easily accept something from him. He was her enemy, her adversary, at least as far as she was concerned. Rhys had other plans for them, plans that did not include her trying to harm him. He didn't want her to struggle too hard when he decided to take her, that would only end up injuring her tiny frame. Whatever distance she wanted to place between them would be destroyed sooner than later. He would make sure that anything that came in the middle of them would be easily squashed.
Even though he could here her breathing even out she didn't relax. Her sleep was fitful and her body twitched and jerked in the throws of some imagination. Rhys had no idea what it was that plagued her slumber, but he didn't want to wake her. Her frail body needed the rest and so did her mind. He had overwhelmed her and he knew that it would take some time for her to adjust to the idea of belonging to someone. It would be an adjustment for both of them, but Rhys was not being forced into something that he didn't want. Just the opposite, he wanted whatever this was between them very badly. He would make sure that she was healthy and strong before he forced too much on her. If he pushed her too far she might snap, and not in the way he wanted. For now he was happy enough to remain here, pressed up against him. This was probably the closest that she would allow him for now and he was content. It was too early to force her to deal with his affection. Much too early. "Sleep little wolf. Nothing will get you while I am here."
