History:
Hades as a small pup upon Anikira played with others like all pups do but often had to be separated from his litter mates as he would grab hold of ears or tail and not let go, even when they would scream or bleed. The anger of his elders did not seem to affect him, and he seemed very confused when he would be chastised as if he didn't understand what he was doing wrong. The pup really didn't understand. Their reactions to his bites, their pain, the adults anger, it all made no sense in his mind.
This did not change as the wolf aged, and he quickly became antisocial, less due to his own choice, and more due to the shunning of his peers. It didn't bother him though. He found comfort and solace in quiet and observation.
On his agoge Hades worked entirely alone, he rarely even spoke to the other members of the pack when they crossed paths. At one point while traveling up a cliff face to get to a haast's eagle nest the pup found a fellow wolf with a broken leg that had fallen from a higher point. After being begged for help Hades simply looked at him and then with a calm paw movement pushed him over the edge. He watched the wolf fall and make impact but then continued on, emotionless. Death, causing it, did not impact him in anyway.
Retrieving his egg when he got back to the beach and preparing to swim back a pup from the main group that had banded together asked if he had seen their pack mate. In a calm, matter of fact tone, and blank expression he responded, “He broke
his leg. I ended his pain.”
The group reacted in anger and horror, understandably. All three pups tried to attack him but Hades of course fought back, and fell into a fugue state. The fight went on until one pup fell to the ground making a horrible sound. Hades muzzle was stained crimson while the younger pup was writhing on the ground, drowning in his own blood from a puncture that had hit his trachea. The other two backed away as Hades descended on the already dying pup, blinded by rage as he began disemboweling his pack mate.
The pup was long dead by the time Hades calmed down. It was like flipping a switch. He just stopped, panting, licked his lips, looked at the others then turned, grabbed his egg and started swimming.
He thought a lot about the taste of that wolfs blood, the look of his organs shining in the sun on the ground. Thinking about what happened caused no reaction. Perhaps there was a slight twinge of fear, because he had no idea how the pup ended up on the ground. They came at him... and then he was standing over a dead wolf... there was nothing in between, but no matter what happened they still deserved it. In his mind he justified it as, they shouldn't have attacked me.
Upon returning he didn't even catch his breath before striding right up to the alpha with no hesitation and presented his egg.
Inside was a disfigured chick. The adults looked between one another nervously while Hades ate the embryo.
Upon the other pups return word of what happened quickly spread. No one really went around Hades after that, intentionally avoiding the wolf, but he didn't seem to mind. He didn't make any attempts to reconnect.
With no real drive towards any rank within the pack, Hades was chosen to take over the Executioners job seeing as the older wolf was near retiring. He did not object, he even seemed interested in the work, listening intently as his mentor taught him the ways of death.
Personality:
Hades has sociopathic tendencies. He lacks any strong sense of empathy, right or wrong, and is rather anti social. Solitude is comfortable for him, large groups or crowding cause him to become irritable, and may cause him to lash out in a
fugue state. Other triggers are tight spaces, do not back this wolf into a corner or block his exit and start poking at him. He will attack you and not stop until he comes out of it or you stop moving.
Due to a lack of empathy Hades does not understand emotions in others. He can not easily connect the cause to the effect, and thus struggles to understand his own emotions, especially strong ones. He is more likely to simply impulsively act on them rather than think about his actions.
Also because of being a Sociopath Hades doesn't often feel sexual urges. The scent of a female in heat may draw his curiosity but it is very unlikely for him to seek out sex or breeding.
Due to his antisocial ways and mental illness Hades enjoys quiet, and the smallest of things. Dust on a sun beam, the twitch of a butterflies antennae, the way a maggots body moves in a wave. Things like those interest him, he could stare at
ants tearing apart a butterfly for hours and hours.
Despite being a sociopath he is not outwardly or intentionally cruel. Hades does not seek out people to hurt on his own, so you don't have to fear your pups in your den, or
keep an eye open when you sleep. Though if you are on his hunting list for being a traitor I would be afraid. He may decide to sate a curiosity, see how long you can live with out a leg, or pull out your lungs to see how they move while you breath.
To those in his pack he has no issue with Hades is quite, and though his usually expressionless face can be off putting, and the deep monotone voice creepy, he is polite and calm.
When it comes to those who have slighted him Hades can hold a grudge for eons. You may have said something rude 5 years ago, but it doesn't matter. He's been patient, and you've just been pushed into the strong river current with crocodiles waiting.
