The water was salty, too salty for the red merle female as she staggered from the shore line. Her throat burned as her mouth grew extremely dry after heaving water out of her system and panting to catch her breath. As she stood, she had to correct her stance a few times before she was able to balance on four paws with a bit more ease. Her double colored eyes looked around at the land where she had been washed up onto, catching the rocks that surrounded her. She remembered tilting her head at them before she started to stagger onward. To someplace other than the hot rock foundation she washed up on in the middle of the day to a place that would provide a little more shade for the time being. She didn't expect for it to take a few hours before she found it however, nor to find herself alongside another shoreline.
This shoreline however, was different. Taking a deep breath in, she could not smell the scent of salty water, aside from what still hung lightly on her coat, but of clear, fresh water with a hint of fish. Fish. Fish meant food, and now her stomach had started to growl as she stepped up toward the lake, her eyes catching sight of her reflection in the water. One ice blue eye that was accompanied by a half folded ear. The other eye a chocolate amber color that reflected every emotion that ever crossed the female. Whether it was anger, happiness, sadness...It didn't matter. It showed clearly in that single eye. She let out a loud growl at the thought and plunged her paw into her reflection before she focused her attention to the fish that were swimming around her.
Their scaly skins reflecting the light of the sun that beat down, causing the lighter coloring of her pelt look nearly a white grey compared to the dark red colors that patched her fur. Including parts of her ears. Her eyes carefully captured every movement by them that they could before she dipped her head into the fresh water, welcoming the cool, clean water as she wrapped her maw around one of the scaly water creatures. The oil on the fish made it almost made her lose it back to the water, but she managed to flip it far enough to dry land that it didn't have a chance to make it back before she pounced on it. With a single shake of her head with ears laid back, the fish became no more, leaving her nothing but to enjoy it and the nutrients it offered.
When it was just bones with scales left, the half dog creature stood and wandered off a little ways. Finding a sand bar that stuck up over the water a little, the mixed canine laid her body down to watch the waters for a little while before she was to lift her maw to the sky, a cautious, song like howl echoing around her as it bounced off the water and trees. A single ear flicked at the sounds of wings lifting birds into the sky far above her head.
This howl continued on for a few more minutes as Adair soon became fascinated by how the sounds echoed around her. How it sounded in her ear, her mind and how it vibrated through her body. It had been a while since she had been allowed to vocalize herself in anyway other than constant growls as she would warn full blooded wolves or those two legged things that wanted to do nothing but hurt her, to stay away before she would break their skin in order to protect herself. She just hoped that she would not find many like them here, if anybody. She silently wished that there were more here like the one wolf back home that would fight with her, rather against her. One that would take the brunt of the fight just to protect her, but she also doubted that there were many here that actually would. She was just surprised that there was the one to begin with, and she knew she would be pushing her luck with wondering if there were more like him. It would be as if she would jump off of a mountain side from the top, and expect to live when she crashes at the base.
Sighing, Adair allowed her vocals to grow silent, her nerves slowly relaxing on their own as she closed her eyes slightly. She enjoyed the peace that temporarily wrapped itself around her, and started to wonder just how long it would last. Surely it wouldn't. She knew it wouldn't. This kind of silence and peace never did for the strange looking half designed creature. She gave off one last sigh before she lifted her chest off of the sand bar and look out at the water, half of her attention elsewhere. Off to remembering the male that she owes a thanks to for helping keep her safe when several others wanted her dead, just for how she looked. Everything was just for how she looked. No one ever dared to know what the female could actually be like, she was sure that if they tried, she would not get the feeling of being in a world of constant war with everyone that crossed her path.
