It was early, much earlier than she had meant to wake. But ever since she had joined Aludri, she could not shake the feeling that she still was not safe. In every shadow, behind every rock or tree was the possibility of danger. She was small and unimportant, she knew that, but she also knew that her sister had painted a large target on her back and she had to be careful. There were no signs of the other female on Anikira, but she knew that she always had to watch out for her. That, and anyone that she had trusted before had let her down, had hurt her beyond repair. So far Aludri had been welcoming, but she had only met a few wolves from the pack. From what she could tell it was a rather large group, and she was certain that there were threats looming around every corner. But, she decided that if she was up worrying about her safety, she might as well do something useful to convince the pack to keep her around.
She was a Fyole now, a hunter of Aludri, and she figured she should do her job. So she made her way north, towards the less populated areas of the pack territory in hopes of finding a decent type of prey to drag back with her. Perhaps if she made regular offerings of food to the pack, they would let her be and not bother her. It was not the way she wanted to live the rest of her life, in fear of upsetting someone or afraid to trust others, but she did not know another way to survive. At least not after everything she had been through. Her small paws carried her further north until she reached the edge of Shyia and Cryothia. The land ahead was frozen and barren, but as she peered down into the rift between the forest and the ice, she spotted a stretch of water that would be a perfect watering ground for prey.
As she climbed her way down towards it, she discovered how right she was. Several yards ahead, as she hid herself away in a collection of brush, she spotted a lone doe. It was small, likely separated from it's mother early in it's life as it appeared to have just barely survived the summer. It looked weak and inexperienced, and though she was small, she was confident that she could take it down on her own. But she would need to surprise it, for she could not risk a chase on the slick ground so close to the fast rushing water. She swallowed quickly as she crept forward, keeping herself low and watching her steps carefully to avoid making noise. It took what felt like forever, but eventually she was within a few bounds of the creature. Suddenly, though, as she was about to leap forward, the deer startled. She snarled in frustration and gave chase, hoping to spook it towards the trees, but it instead ran towards the water.
She cursed softly under her breath, picking up her speed and then skidding to a stop at the edge of a deep ravine as the doe tumbled off into the abyss below in front of her. Her frustrated snarl echoed around her for a few moments before she shoved herself backwards, putting distance between herself and the edge of the ravine until she was sitting several yards away. There went her meal, and her ticket to peace within Aludri. She had promised Asher that she was a good hunter, and here she was failing miserably at it. What had spooked the creature? She had be so careful, she was sure she had not made any noise. She sighed heavily, shaking her head and clawing at the icy ground beneath her, taking out her irritation and frustration on the ground before she would attempt another hunt elsewhere.
