[attr="class","post"]Far felt the poor creature’s tiny body break apart as she slammed her jaws together. Its muted squeal was cut off as its flesh exploded. Far relished the power she had over the scurrying creatures of Xisyn as she swallowed the lizard and slowly licked the gore off her black lips. It was quite entertaining to hunt among the looming red boulders in this part of Sethos territory. Small, warm prey was always hiding in the cracks, and lizards basked on every flat surface, lazy and slow, until something came along that was better, faster, quicker, meaner. In every direction, the boulders were pressed tightly together, packed in avoid shifting. They looked as if they had been thrown together by giants. Beyond the pit, the red rise of Belashi Butte marked the horizon.
It was exactly the kind of place where Far felt most at home.
The taste of the lizard was still on her tongue as she padded carefully over the tops of the boulders. She leapt from one to the next, watching her footing, feeling the heat of the sun as it fell on her and warmed her mottled coat. Her mood was as good as it could be for such a twisted femme. Sethos was on the brink of something. She could feel the energy within the pack, once idle, shifting and growing into something more. Perhaps months of getting nothing done is getting to them, Far thought. They are as restless as I am now.
She sat on a flat rise of stone, the boulder curving away from her on either side. As she settled, she noticed the movement of small prey fleeing into the darkness of the cracks around her. They shrank away from her like forest creatures fled from a flame. Far’s blood-red gaze looked around, pleased. Xisyn may be home, but soon she would take her ranks out into the continent on their first scouting mission. Whether it was new members or fresh blood they would reap, she did not yet know. Soon, she thought, the remains of her meal still staining the fur around her maw. Soon we will show everyone what a force we can be.
