It was Spring in Anikira, though not much warmth could be felt in the north. Cryothia was an icy tundra that many still were unused to. The young brute only ventured this far North a handful of times, braving the elements with a smile. Echinus enjoyed the colder climate. It had a sense calmness to it, just laying in the snow and watching the grey skies above. Though he knew other parts of the land were warmer, he found the year round snow a welcome anomaly. As much as he loved the snow, he could hardly blend into it. It made practicing the art of surprise hard. His charcoal pelt was a stark contrast to everything around him. Unless he remained in the forests.
Echinus currently explored the ridge between the forest and the frozen mountains. It was interesting to see such differences. The snow didn't touch the trees, currently so it looked like two different worlds. He padded along, weaving between trees and hopping over fallen branches. His gait was light but purposeful. Echinus was on a mission today. He was a year old now and he needed to find a mentor. He wanted to grow strong enough to protect the pack. Though in his mind, his mother and siblings came first. His sister had been born small, his every instinct screamed to keep close watch of her. He may have been the youngest, but this would not hinder his mission.
He had to start training. He was ready to learn and join the ranks of Aludri warriors. He remembered watching them when he was younger and wanting to be out there with them. His small pudgy pup body had grown into a thicker more mature one. His legs were a bit longer and awkward, getting tangled in themselves when he got too rambunctious. He was still learning how his now larger form worked, balancing was an art he still needed to master. He bounded through the trees, emerald eyes wide and alert. Birds flew from nearby trees and he pushed off on his hind legs to reach them. Teeth gnashing and forepaws stretching upward. He twirled around as he came back down to land. His mouth empty, though he had no intentions of killing the bird.
He was restless and needed someone to train with. Sparring was something he'd seen done a handful of times. It was fighting but with no actual injury. He had wrestled with pups before, but true sparring was different. He bolted at everything that moved, lunging and snapping at anything that moved his way. His muscles tensed as he shifted around. Practicing on anything he could find. Finally he decided a tree would be the best subject, lunging and scraping claws against it. It was awkward against a motionless opponent, but he made do. He wished his siblings were around to help him. He almost wanted to find one of the warriors and ask them, but he didn't want to make a fool of himself. The tree was a good enough opponent for now.
