History: Banshee is a product of an interesting pair. Humble beginnings, it could be said, though neither of them appears to possess much humility anymore.
Mara, once named Mint, began her life in Valyn as the youngest and smallest of her litter. Emerald and Titan were her parents, though the pairing was far from consensual. Mint and her siblings, Silver and Jasper, did not have the most normal of upbringings. With an absent rapist for a father, and a mother who was kidnapped and Kairos by his pack, it was inevitable that Mint would not stick around. Her life unfolded gloriously before her once she left, founded the dark Tenebris with three likeminded companions and renamed herself Mara. Soon, Mara gave birth to three girls by her fellow ruler, Raum: Tanha, Raga, Arati.
It was not to last, however. Tenebris fell, and from its ashes Mara rose to create Elysium. It was here that Banshee’s father, Armistice, found her.
Armistice hailed from Africa originally, born to a litter of four, and spent much of his childhood and adolescence with his best friend, Dowe. In his second year he left Dowe behind and ventured to Anikira, joining Kairos. Here he stayed for a while, until it began to lose its fun, and he moved on to sate his bloodthirst elsewhere. Elsewhere ended up being Elysium, where he was offered the rank of Imra – consort – and he accepted.
Soon, she gave birth to four pups by him: Zeta, Lorelai, Banshee, Ronove. Three girls and a boy. The litter was doomed by their father’s rank, unable to take high ranks of their own when they grew up. But as the daughter of a queen, and the aspirations of one, Banshee will not easily forgive her father for fating her this way.
Personality: This blood-kissed girl is as deadly as her sanguine gaze would suggest, though it as enticing as it is spine-chilling. There is something of the mythological siren in her, an enchanting but perilous glint to be seen when you meet her eye. Banshee’s size and colouration mean that she has little problem in making heads turn, though she makes it her business to ensure they continue to look at her with awe rather than bemusement. The peculiarity of her appearance never thwarted her femininity and magnetism, in fact she considers it to have the opposite effect. The distinctiveness adds an air of rarity to her, making her all the more desirable, and she has always been on the ladylike side of the spectrum despite her Kenai blood.
As she grows into herself, she will come to realise that she is motivated by one thing in life: power. As the daughter of an alpha, she becomes enamoured with the reverence her mother receives, but being born a bastard meant being starved of the one thing she desires. As such, she must find it in other ways, so her lust for power manifests itself in seduction and murder. She has a touch of the sociopathic in the way she seeks to exert power over others, caring nothing for any feelings but her own. She is an incredibly Machiavellian character, a born manipulator, and seeks personal gain at any cost.
Like her namesake, Banshee develops an interest in death at some point. It stems in part from her desire to control and manipulate others, but also from a pure fascination in the messiness of it all. There is a little light amongst the universe of dark within her, however. She has a keen interest in learning, and although the subject is often macabre, she is dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge. It is unfortunate that her desire to experiment is often projected onto experimenting with her fellow wolves – both living and dead.
There are moments when she the joy of learning triumphs over all the darkness in her heart, moments when she can even appear a little, for lack of a better word, dorky. More often than not, though, she can appear superior and arrogant when she takes every opportunity amongst her equals to show off her dazzling intellect with facts.
Almost always, Banshee will be inclined to spend time either with those she perceives as equals, or those she perceives as superior for some reason. Banshee has very little interest in fraternising with the weak, drawn more to those who possess strong wills just to see how far she can push her manipulation. The stronger the object of her destructive desire, the more accomplishment she will feel for having ‘conquered them’. She is also drawn to strength and intellect because she seeks to take it from them, because she wants to use them to better her own knowledge and skill to become the greater being that she perceives herself to be.
