This was the life. Though Hektor no longer had his family at his side, he was in the process of creating a new one. With Avacyn pregnant, he would soon have pups to raise and call his own. He had seen very little of A'ia lately, but he knew the little Isles female was roaming about somewhere within Ser'eri while he patrolled and spent his nights with the Anikiran female. Avacyn adored him, respected him, and wanted his attention constantly. What more could he ask for? She knew her place as a female that belonged to him, and she was happy with it. He smirked at the thought. Perhaps the power he held in Ser'eri and over the two females he had claimed had gotten to his head, but it had yet to hinder him in any way. In fact, there were times it made him feel invincible. He shivered slightly at the thought of the word, and his smile widened again as he stood tall at the base of Orvor Rock and looked out across his domain.
It was, of course, truly Hyperion's lands, but he had been chosen to rule it in the Emperor's stead. Of course the large brown male could not always be present, therefore Hektor had been given power over the small portion of Kairos territory. He never once allowed himself to slip in his responsibility, and he was often patrolling the territory and marking the borders to ensure that no one crossed into their lands uninvited. Now he was even more careful about his watch since one of his females was expecting. He wished it had been both, but A'ia still frequently dodged his attentions. She was pretty and she was his, but she did not want him like Avacyn did. Perhaps he would get through to her someday, but he was determined not to force her into anything more than what he already had.
He had taken her from her home, but he had convinced himself that she was better off for it. If she had stayed on the Isles, she would be dead as a result of yet another stupid war. He had saved her life, the least she could do was be grateful and show him her gratitude physically. But he wanted her to truly want him. It angered him to think about, so instead he focused on the litter of pups that was quickly approaching him. They would be his to mold, to teach, to mentor. They would become strong members of Kairos someday, and they would want for nothing in their entire lives. He sighed heavily, lowering his hips into a sit as he looked out over the plains of Ser'eri and enjoyed the heat of the sun beating down on his head and shoulders as the warm breeze rippled throughout his thick, multicolored fur.
