Morag, his heart pounded at the thought of her name, and he forced himself to calm. He needed to give her a bit of space, as much as he would like to dive in relentless pursuit to take up all her days she was a member of Kairos. A little bit of distance as he reaqaunted himself with all the territories would ensure that he would not fall behind on any potential obligations that came up, and would continue to earn his keep in Kairos. Even though Hyperion had not spoken to him in awhile, either in satsifaction or disatsifaction with his duties that didn't meant that Ares would act sloth about it, he did not intent to allow Kairos to suffer because of a female. He had, perhaps, dedicated too much time to his duties which had lead to his loss of Castalia and Muse but he would not repeat the same mistake here. After all, if anyone could balance everything that needed to be done it was him - he was flawless.

Making his way to the cove he debated going to Ina'mos. While it was the heartland young gladiators were also abundant here as well as threats. More likely to attack the mainland than face exhaustion after a long swim only to be greeted by the bared fangs of the warriors charged with defending the young of the pack. He had no idea if sufficient forces had been moved to Ina'mos for the breeding season but, then again, it was not his job to oversee such matters. Ares was not sure he even knew all of the wolves in Kairos, a pack as large as it. However, he fancied himself important enough that other wolves would come and seek out him which would make his job easier at least.

Kalila of Kairos

" I am not a Princess, I don't need saving"

Kalila was not sure what drove her to the SS Rilon that day. Fish? or the now unmissable scent of one of her pack mates? What exactly eluded her, but nevertheless there was was, walking along the sand dunes towards the ship with determination burning behind her ocean blue gaze. Kalila was nervous around the members of Kairos in the days following her acceptance within it's ranks but Hyperion.

He had proven to be the smart and capable leader she though he was and had made sure she knew what to do and where she stood in the hierarchy of the pack. She was a regular pack member, not a slave but yet not yet the position she wanted. Still she had yet to prove herself or go on a hunt with the other hunter's of the pack. That did not mean that she had not provided, in the days that followed her arrival she had managed to take down a sick deer and drag it pack to the heartlands of the pack, pride in her achievement rose in her chest as she reflected back.

The scent she had barely noticed she had been following abruptly stopped as Kalila looked around to see a hulking auburn coloured male before her. He seemed content on being alone and Kalila would have left him, had she not been so distracted with the brute that she did not know where she placed a paw. Which ironically turned out to be right onto a crab's pincer's. The rust coloured creature had no intentions of being stood on so as Kalila's paw connected with it's shell it clamped it's larger pincer around a toe and squeezed. With a startled yelp Kalila jumped away from the crab, baring her fangs at the sideways walking creature her paw throbbing in pain.

In her haste to get away Kalila totally forgot about the ruddy male as she turned her attention to the sore paw, licking it in a futile attempt to dull the pain. She heard that the evil creature that bit her was called a crab and they were not poisonous from what Lila had told her when they were together before Lila's pups were born and Kalila left her old name and life behind. Not deadly did not mean don't hurt and Kalila mentally scolded Lila for not telling her about the claw things that crabs used. Maybe she did? Kalila could barely remember much of her life as Atlanta, it seemed like a distant memory or simply a dream that she had been to frightened to wake up from.

" Owwwh... you little" Kalila finally pulled herself and dived at the crab, sending sand flying and causing the poor creature to fall on it's back , legs frailing about before Kalila's powerfull jaws clamped shut and the creatures life ended in a sastifying crunch of it's shell. Kalila smiled in victory and was about to take her prize back to the rest of Kairos when she remembered that the rust coloured male was nearby and likely would have heard her squeal of pain.

Feeling guilty for ignoring him, the female dropped her kill and looked around, wondering if the brute had come after no doubt hearing her yell.

" I am a Queen, I have this handled"

He was still walking when he noticed the female approaching, his gaze fixated on her. Shewas pretty and reminded him a little bit of Muse despite the other female being slightly prettier. He noticed her stepping on the crab too late and then she was scurring away from it and facing him and he was met wtih a stunning pair of eyes the color of a peaceful sky. His lips curled up in amusement when she sought vengance on the creature and he followed her along as she caught it in her teeth. She seemed intent on ignoring him, but really how anyone could forget or overlook his presence was a mystery, and then finally turned her attentiont o where he had seated himself in the sand. The particles getting into his coat, irritating but not detracting from his looks in the slightest.

Raising his eyebrows he observed her carefully, his tone was cordial with his first words. While Ares didn't need a warm up to initiate his charm there was something worth saying before he devoted his full attention to showcasing his desirability. "Careful, the fragments of the shell could easily get caught in your throat." His eyes made threatre out of flicking over that specific part of her body before they roamed to take her more completely in. She was pretty in a traditional way, not the same as Morag but pretty nonetheless and while he could afford to be picky he didn't see a need to. She was pretty and if she wanted him then there was no reason not to pursue more than one female. Hektor had done so with success and he knew of other males that had done the same. Ares knew that he would attract enough to warrant a harem even if he didn't desire to include every female he meant in his pool as a potential mate. "I'm Ares by the way." He took care to introduce himself, though she bore the scent of Kairos presuming that she had heard of him was not the way to win her heart. A large smile and he asked her his next question. "And what might your name be, gorgeous?"

Kalila

Triumphant in her efforts that caused the end of the evil creature that had biten her, Kalila had time to fully process the male before her. He was indeed handsome but Kairos was full of handsome brutes to fill Kalila's days with visual enjoyment so he did not impress her that much with looks alone.

The brute spoke, a deep baritone that made Kalila feel a little intimidated, which had never occurred before, even Hyperion did not scare her, rather his presence tugged on her loyalty and respect but this male had the undertone of someone to be feared as well as respected and that intrigued the young huntress.

Kalila smiled at his warning about the crab but before she could answer him, he spoke again introducing himself as Ares and then calling her gorgoues after inquiring after the femme's name. Kalila felt flattered by the attention he was showing her but was significantly wary of it, after all, didn't most males this time of year be amourous? The pure white female did not know. " I am Kalila, It's a pleasure to meet you Ares and thank you for the advice about the crab but I do not intend to eat it myself, never developed a taste for seafood." she explained politely. Her posture respectful and contained.

She felt embrassed by the hideously puplike reaction she had given the crab when it suprised her but there was still time to redeem herself, savage what was left of her dignity in order to make a good impression on Ares. Hyperion had mentioned him briefly as being the judge of Kairos, a very distinguished position that, in Kalila's life was one held by her brother Samuel before his death.

The white female shook her head to clear them of all thoughts of the past, it seemed the salty air had her reminded of a time where life was tough, on the run from the remains of the pack that had taken her birthright and made what would have been a pristegious and respectable position into little more than glorified slavery, had she not ended Rowan he would had ruled her own pack like his own, with her being a mere figurehead, if she had been allowed to keep her queen title.

However, her queenhood had vanished when she adopted the name Kalila, Queen Atlanta was gone and in her place was Kalila, a princess of the hunt with the wit and will to conquer thousands.

He heard her name carefully and grinned again at her response. Not as fiery as the other one but still courteous towards him - he could respect being respected. Idly, he wondered what she had intended to do with the crab he supposed that after it had taken its claw to her it may have simply been her taking her anger out of it. So it would seem that she didn't have an amazing handle on her own emotions, but then again Ares himself knew that anger was one of the stronger forces that could drive a wolf. Happiness led to complacency more often than not, perhaps not in him but that was only because it was accompanied by a strong sense of responsibility. To Kairos.

Shrugging his shoulders he once again lowered his bottom jaw to speak, he knew his voice was just as enticing as his body. Perhaps it wasn't fair to other brutes but it seemed that females were perfectly happy to settle for a lesser alternative so he couldn't feel sorry for them. "Well that puts you in the majority," Sending his gaze out to sea he took the opportunity to talk about himself just for the fun of it "I've never developed the taste for fish, too much trouble for too little meat." Of course, Ares was able to fish, and he was even good at it, but that didn't mean that he enjoyed the activity or that he would want to taste marine life given the choice between that and something more substantial.

Deciding that he may as well kill two birds with one stone and inquire after her place in Kairos, it was highly plausible she was related to someone whose daughters Ares should not show any interest to, he asked: "So, Kalila, are you new to Kairos?" It was hard to tell if the scent was faint from the freshness of it or from her jaunt near the ocean water. "I can't imagine I would forget a face like yours if I ever came across it." Her eyes were probably more notable than her white coat, hardly a speck on it. Ares had a good memory and doubted that he would have forgotten her, besides he rathered she was new than she was one of the pups that had just finished their Agoge and he wouldn't have any interest in anyway.

The pure white huntress would have raised an eyebrow if she could as Ares put her in the majority for not developing a taste for seafood, she knew of wolves that only knew how to hunt fish and spend their whole lives following the migration patterns of a few key species, but that was not her and clearly not Ares but her lack of a facial expression should let him know her disapproval of being Putin in any category, much less one with lots of wolves in it. Ares then asked if she was new to Kairos, adding that he would never forget a face. Kalila inwardly sighed at that comment. Charmers were a type of male that Kalila avoided contact with under any and all circumstances and Ares, despite his intial positive impression was quickly proving to be one.

Rowan has been a charmer when she had first met him, promising her the world before her father decided the best way to prevent a war was to audition her off to the strongest brute and broker peace, but Kalila had not be destined to be some trophy for an egotistical male, she was born to rule and while she may not have a kingdom or followers yet, she was determined to prove to Hyoerion that she was worth more than a mere huntress, that she was special.

" Yes I'm new to Kairos, Hyperion was kind enough to offer me a place in your ranks, a huntress to be precise. What about you?" She questioned lightly, still trying to be polite despite her wariness of the males general "vibe" . She could be wrong and he could be lovely but experience had taught her to be skeptical and so far that had been what was keeping her alive.

It seemed as if she had turned from friendly and amiable to reserved but polite in an instant and Ares couldn't quite identify the change or the source of it. Nonetheless he could appreciate a bit of a challenge when he saw one so instead of being put off by it and leaving her to her own business he only smiled, continued on his path of being friendly and charming as ever and didn't attempt to change his actions. Why would he when he had done nothing wrong in the first place. It was highly probable that he had only failed with Castalia and Muse because they had not been completely willing in comng to Kairos but he knew that he would have greater success with females that felt more in control and didn't feel the need to rebel against good opportunities based on principle.

So it seemed that she didn't know who he was, he supposed that was only to be expected because she was new. Most other wolves knew of him in passing or had seen him at pack meetings where he was always careful to show up and show his support to Kairos - ready to fight for it, serve it, and preserve the greatness that had been fostered there. "I became Judge awhile back." Despite not having to struggle for his rank it was not an indication of weakness in the pack but rather the good sense of the leaders in realizing the fact that he was good at everything he did and would possess the wisdom, finesse, and aptitude to the hard decisions that being a judge had the potential to need. Kairos was, internally, fairly peaceful and he had not had much opportunity to adjudicate on affairs within it but he was always ready to. As he had mused to Hektor, trouble didn't wait for opportune timesto show up. "How are you finding the company of your packmates so far?" He used his words to snap himself back to reality.

The Unbroken Princess

The white huntress nodded in understanding when Ares explained he had become Judge a while back. Kalila assumed that the rank in Kairos held the same meaning as it did in Wintrafeli, that the Judge was the over that oversaw all the issues within the packs ranks , Kalila's brother Samuel had held the rank when he had been alive and for that reason Kalila still viewed the rank as special, A judge stood as head of desapline within a pack, and as Kalila was discovering Kairos was a large pack with many diverse membersm, surely not all of those member's got along right?

The blue eyed femme was just about to ask when Ares asked her a question instead, interrupting her train of thought. Did she like her new pack mates? She supposed so, she had only really meet Hyperion and the other hunters Tallyn and Yvette and of course Ares himself so she could not say for sure. A opinion she voiced soon after her careful consideration of the words as to not offend Ares or start problems with other members that she had not yet met.

" I don't know enough people in Kairos to have much o any opinion of it's members as a whole but the few I have met seem nice enough, some are more intense than others I will admit." She explained confidently. Kalila may not of held any rank in Kairos high society yet but she was not stupid . Ambitious and polite were two of her defining traits and she intended to not let anyone get a rank that was higher than her, especially not if she deserved it more than they did.

" What about you Ares, with a pack as big as Kairos, do you have to settle many disputes? Also I must add that you seem to be quite charming and I am curious to know, Does that pretty face line work on anyone?" She looked at him with all the innocence she could manage but it was the most polite way that she could think of that would let him know that acting as if he was a god's gift to the female kind was not going to work on her. It insulted her intelligence and frankly she loathed males with high opinions of themselves or their actions. Respect for oneself was one thing but this was bordering on vanity and Kalila was not vain in the slightest, nor did she respect those who were.

" I think that an inflated sense of self importance is an ugly trait, So please don't insult my intelligence by thinking that just because you are handsome that I will fall for you" she voiced her opinion, giving him a pointed if not slightly rude look. She was not necessarily trying to make him think she respected him only to reveal she didn't, She did respect him, if only for his position than his personality.

Ares inclined his head slightly at her words, Kairos was filled with many different wolves and while he respected all of them in some way he knew that it could be a bit overwhelming to wolves who were not as strong as he was. And he was willing to protect her if it meant that she would favor him with her presence. It seemed as if she wished to make herself appear less easy to get and he was fine with playing that game with her for a little while - he understood that it would be alarming to a female that she was falling this quickly and he could always work her down. Her next words came as a surprise, perhaps it was just that she was on his mind so much but it seemed as if she was echoing Morag and their earlier conversation and he smirked, falling back into familiar territory.

"Well, it seemed to work on you." Tempted to repeat the maneuver of moving closer he refrained. This female was not worth that effort although he did want her, she was very pretty after all. Shrugging his shoulders at her earlier question he answered honestly, he wasn't quite sure why she was so interested in his work "Thankfully not very many when internal troubles can be avoided it means that the pack is running well."

Her next bout of dialogue set his temper flare and it took a moment as he rose to match her but calmed himself. Morag had been angry but he was also more willing to tolerate disrespect from her. This huntress who smelled as if she had only just been accepted to the pack did not have the right to tell him that he was unworthy of his rank, his pride, and the respect that he had earned in service to Kairos. "You have hardly just joined Kairos and you think you have the right to tell me that I do not deserve respect? Who gave you that authority Huntress? It certainly wasn't the gods of this land." The words escaped But he refrained from pulling rank further, pushing the dangerous anger down into his gullet hoping that it would not allow his words to fester. His smile was half baring his teeth but his words were smooth "It's not inflated at all sweetheart, don't worry I live up to my looks." Her compliment was enough to save her. He wasn't going to try and

Ares was quick to pull her up on her perceived overstep, arguing that she had implied he did not deserve respect and the huntress flinched back as he bared his teeth at her but did no more, her compliment on his looks enough to save her from further rank pulling but Kalila was smart and was quick to correct Ares in his assumption. " I did not intend to make it seem that you do not deserve respect for your rank, or even the rank itself Ares and if I made it look that way, then for that I apologise" That was true but something within her didn't sit right with the apology, though as sincere as it was it made her feel weak and lack any sort of authority, something she was not used to and did not like in the slightest.

"I just wanted to let you know that your charms do not work on me, while I am flattered by the attention" She was careful with her words, as if one misspronouncation would offend the fragile yet large ego that belonged to the male before her. Kalila was not a humble creature by an means, she was proud of her achievements and herself but that did not mean she projected that confidence onto other's, it was one thing to be proud of oneself, it was another to force others to share that opinion.

Ares was clearly a confident male who was adept in his rank and worthy of the respect he had earned in service of Kairos, but Kalila sensed that he also thought highly of everything else about himself. He asked what gave her the authority to say he did not deserve his rank? She did, he may think he was wonderful and handsome but she did not respect him beyond what his rank demanded.

Kalila had never had ranked pulled on her before, mostly because none ever could and the fact that Ares had done it, without a hint of regret left a sour feeling in the pit of the femme's stomach. Ares was a Judge, his rank deserved her respect but that did not mean that she had to like the wolf it belonged to and after that exchange it was clear that she did not like him any more than what was absolutely necessary. " Anyways, I think I might go now, plenty of lands to hunt on, I bid you farewell Ares" she stated, always polite as she made an effort to move away from the male, back towards the mainlands of Kairos and the relative safety that a group provided. Kalila would limit their time together, to not allow herself to be pestered by a male whose ego was bigger than deserved.

Her words, stilted and forced, filtered into his ears like mosquitos and it made him tremble with agitation again, his temper already high and her doing nothing to soothe it. She apologized for his perception, and her possible attribution to it, but not for her actions and that was what mattered. Ares knew that he could order her to apologize, properly this time, but such an act was beneath him. And the idea was unappealing. She just didn't know when to stop digging herself a deeper hole and when she spoke again it had him fighting baring his teeth because goddammit he could stand being stood up by yet another female and that wasn't what he was angry about. Then she began to walk away, perhaps she sensed that he was dangerous, maybe she feared him. So he was worthy of fear and not respect. It stilled the violence in him but not the wrath. If she thought that his ego was too large then she could back up her insinuations with some sort of action, there was nothing that she could do that he couldn't do better, whether it be bringing down large prey, chasing rabbits, helping young wolves on their path to becoming warriors, or fighting. Instead, he moved to indifference, trying to force a chill into the flames that were eating him up "You're a terrible liar, so either don't bother or learn to be better." They were cold but she had insulted him, had the audacity to pretend as if she was sorry for it and then attempt to leave before the matter had been settled. In a pack as large as Kairos it was possible that their paths would not cross but they still had to both appear at pack meetings and if she ever brought a grievance forth he would adjudicate fairly so she could at least try to settle this instead of running away from the problem she had created by running her mouth. He finished out his speech, trying to keep his words flowing and not punctuated with growls, his voice even and reasonable instead of a hothead who couldn't keep his calm - which would put him as something other than the rank he had earned. "I can't make you respect me, however, it may be a good idea to consider if this pack is really for you if you can't help insulting others. Kairos of late has been internally peaceful and I would not see that ruined by a snotty brat who can't keep her mouth shut." Turning away before he did something that would tug at the vague strands of regret he possessed he walked deliberately away. He hadn't said anything to her that was not utterly true. If she couldn't handle having her rank mentioned she wouldn't get very far, rank was not everything in Kairos but it counted for something. Even he would not disrespect Hyperion, not that the male would ever deserve such an action. Messoria was deserving of respect as well. The gladiators of the pack had their own place as well within the structure, it was better to respect them as youth finding and proving themselves, they did not deserve to have their place called into question. He would not compromise his position by this little bout and disagreement but it still rankled. Perhaps it was time to blow off steam, training or running his muscles until his mind was no longer thinking of a white coat bleeding red.

XD yeah but at least it's mutual - Ares out unless you want her to attack him or something
