The cure has been found! Wolves on Anikira are recovering from the disease and life is moving forward with the promise of pups in many packs. And yet darkness looms on the horizon, daring the creatures of Anikira to relax and allow themselves to get comfortable once more.
She had never questioned her sanity until the other day. She woke up and saw her father so logically she thought that she was dreaming. Then a wolf named Samson showed up. She had never seen this guy before so she thought that he was just some random guy in her dream. It was him who made her realize that this wasn’t a dream. Yara had questioned the brute about whether he saw another wolf with them. Samson did not and that supported her theory that she was dreaming but he was able to make her realize that this wasn’t a dream, it was reality.
This realization caused Yara to go into shock because she would have never expected for it to happen. Before her father had passed, she didn’t feel any signs that would ever make her question her sanity. Her mother and father were both sane and so were her siblings so as far as she knew, there wasn’t a history of insanity in her family.
“But there is a first for everything,” she thought to herself.
So far, the only deceased being she has seen soon so far is her father. She didn’t believe in the afterlife so any occurence with her father she believed to be a hallucination. These hallucinations have been harmless so far but who is to say that they won’t become harmful? That was the last thing Yara wanted to happen but she was at a loss as to what to do to prevent such a thing from happening. Yara didn’t have any answers and she thought that she could go completely insane at any second. She needed an answer soon because soon it would be too late and there would be no going back. She would lose her ability to determine what was real and what was and that is the last thing she wanted to happen.
She did not know what it was that drew her here. But Valeria could not ignore the gentle tug, drawing her closer and close to Arit. In life, the ebony and golden femme had never set paw in the territory. She had rarely ventured outside of Kal'dyne and Acerbus, then Kamari with their exodus from the forested terrain. She still was not sure what it was that held her here. By all rationality, she should be lingering in the confines of purgatory. She had committed the ultimate betrayal to the living; she had taken her own life.
And yet she was still here.
Valeria knew not what kept her tethered. She had made so many mistakes in life, and yet in this time and place, she felt a freedom... a lightness, that she had not experienced in years. The Seraphim was akin to a true Seraphim at last. If only she had not been subject to the knowledge that came with her death. Valhalla, Valkyrie, and Arya... her first litter, all deceased with the exception of her son who had been little more than a ghost to her immediately before her death. Dakota, her darling little daughter, had greeted her mere moments after her passing. The release that she felt, knowing that her young daughter had not suffered at the jaws of the beast, had brought her the peace that life had never been able to afford her.
The question still lingered. Why was she still here?
It was as if she could not separate herself from this plane, and Valeria could not help but wonder if this was her punishment for her actions. She was doomed to live in a world where she could do little more than monitor the lives of her descendants from a distance, unable to intervene or aid in any way. She could not direct their actions, for she was little more than a chill down the spine of the wolves that inhabited Anikira. There was no clear explanation, and yet here she was. Even still, Valeria found her gaze falling upon what could only be a wolf in the realm of the living. It was almost as if the female's eyes were staring straight at her. But that simply could not be possible. She had passed by dozens of wolves, and several times she had attempted to speak with them. But each experience was just like the last. None of them could see or hear her. If anything, she created a sense of discomfort that urged them away from her as quick as possible. But this wolf... it was eerie.
"Can you... can you see me?" she breathed the words hesitantly. "Can you hear me?"

Yara was so caught up in her thoughts that she was almost completely oblivious to the wolf that was nearing her. It wasn’t until the other she wolf was within a couple yards of her that she realized that she was no longer alone. The ivory female took a quick sniff of the air to try and see if the other’s scent was recognizable. When Yara inhaled, she expected to smell whatever scent the wolf had on her, however, there was no scent to be found. She could smell all of the other odors in the area so her sense of smell was still working but why couldn’t she pick up the scent of this being? First she was seeing her dead father and now she had encountered a wolf that had no scent to it and Yara knew that every wolf had a scent to them. Something about this was really weird, well all of it was really weird and she needed to get to the bottom of this before she truly went insane.
Once the shock of the lack of scent the wolf had subsided some, her icy blue eyes. This she wolf was much bigger than her but that didn’t intimidate Yara. Not only was her lack of scent interesting, her coat color was too. She had a normal ebony pelt, however, her muzzle and paws were as gold as you could get. Yara had never seen markings like this before. The oddest markings she had seen were those of the Isle wolves that she had seen as a pup but this was nothing like that. Then again, Yara hadn’t traveled around Anikira much so maybe these markings were the norm somewhere else around here.
The ebony and gold wolf finally spoke and the words that came out of her maw confused Yara. She had asked if she could hear her and see her. Yara’s first response was tilting her head to the side in confusion.
“Yes, why wouldn’t I be able to hear or see you?”

It was as if an entire weight was lifted from the femme's body the moment the little white wolf spoke. Valeria never thought she would be so pleased to hear words directed at her again. For so long, the femme had lived a tortured life, plagued by the mistakes she had made. She had been tattered and torn by the weight of what her choices had done; she was a mother, but a failure of one to her youngest pups. And yet, the pain had drifted away in the moments after her passing. It was as if the veil that had clouded her eyes wafted away in those moments. Had life been able to leave her feeling the way she did now, she never would have thought to leave it behind. But she had nothing left in the world of the living. She had thought herself to have nothing else to live for.
Nothing had prepared her for the hell of being alone forever.
Valeria had not known she would not cross the veil when she perished. The ebony and golden femme did not stick around to find who had discovered her where she laid. It was often she hoped her mother would come to her in death, and yet she still remained blissfully alone. Seeing the blank eyes of wolf after wolf staring through her, with little more than their hackles raising in response to her presence, was horrific. She was nothing to this world anymore, and yet she was still tethered here. And so when the bright blue eyes peered towards her, those words spoken to her as they would have been when she was among the living, Valeria felt her heart jump.
"Because, little one," she offered tentatively, "I am dead."
She had accepted what had become of her, and truthfully Valeria was not surprised she had been damned to a life of suffering alone. She was happy to see that Kratos had found a place where he was not suffering alongside her. She hoped her daughters would always see him as a father where they had not had one. The mackenzie valley femme had never wanted anything more than to feel loved, and she perished with the guilt that she spat on the love that had been offered to her. She knew it was her fault; she would never try to lay any blame on the male. She simply had not been strong enough to save herself from her demons, and Kratos should not have had to be the one to pull her back from the dark. She was lost. It only took her death for her to be found.
Lorem, ipsum, dolor. The black and ebony she wolf seemed automatically pleased as soon as Yara had confirmed to her that she was able to see and hear her. As if that wasn’t odd in the first place, so was her reaction. The Tundra mutt had never seen anyone so happy to be in company of other in her life. Then again, maybe the stranger had a good reason to. Yara would have that exact same expression if she were to see her mother or her siblings. She had been separated from them for so long that she didn’t know if they were still alive or not. Her and Severus had gotten separated from the others when word began to spread that there was a way back to their homeland. With that being the last time Yara saw the rest of her family, she didn’t even know if they had even made it back to Anikira or not.
The she wolf’s response made her mind make a complete 180. She went from not knowing why she was able to see her father even after he passed to having an answer. Yara wasn’t going crazy, she just had the ability to see ghost. But when did she actually get the ability or was she just born with it and not knowing until now? She thought she would be happy to know what she was able to see her deceased father but in reality, it just brought even more questions for her to find the answers to. Another question that came to her mind was that whether she could just see any plain ghost or if they had to “give” her permission to. She would understand her father giving permission, but wasn’t quite so sure about this larger she wolf. Yara couldn’t recall ever meeting her in her life so there really shouldn’t be a reason for this wolf to want to grant permission for Yara to see her. Maybe she could just see ghost in general? Or was it possibly triggered by her dad’s death? Once again, she was basically back to square one in her investigation of this.
“Who are you anyway,” Yara asked curiously.

Jaidah is one of the albinos on the site, a brand new character brought to life by a brand new player. It is interesting to see how such a pure looking being could be wrapped up in the angsty claws that is Irkalla! We will definitely be staying in-tune with this character to see just what heights Bird is able to take her!
