The large dire female walked carefully across the plains of the south, returning to this place for no reason other than curiosity. It was around this place that she had met many other wolves, much more than the few that took up in the north. Besides she liked the warmth that was brought from the summer here. These were also the perfect hunting grounds for the scum that constantly found themselves on her shit list. More jobs and contracts came from this area than anywhere else on the continent so she would follow them. Besides she was happy to be back in this area, for she had not explored it as of late. The sizzling and bursting steam of the geysers caught her attention, her eyes watching them blow at random. They didn't seem to have any timing or reason, blowing scalding water and steam with each gust. It was breathtaking. Like the frustrations of the earth, just blowing themselves away. Laurel felt similar for each and every time she killed a wolf she felt some of her frustration and pent up aggression fade away from her. The most recent kill, Sythis was the most satisfying. Laurel ripping her life away from her in savage glee. Something about the hunt brought another side of her to the surface, leaving the gentle and caring Laurel behind.
A part of her wished that she could fade back into the dark recesses of that state, to go back to the hunt. It was when she and rocket felt the most alive. Her companion was sleeping soundly on her back, enjoying off time from their last hunt. That last fight was apparently so exciting that he wore himself out as the eager spectator. It was a shame though for he was missing some of the most beautiful scenery. This part of the continent was colored in red sands, colorful rocks, and wondrous waters. Though few and far between, the pools and rivers here were crystal clear. A phenomenon that seemed focused on the deserts. There were also large stone bridges here that connected parts of the continent before the volcano erupted again. Sighing she continued on, Rocket snoring gently on her back.
They had been together for so long now that Laurel couldn't imagine her life without him. He was her only friend and companion, the person that had never left her no matter what happened. Considering how she had been banished from her birth pack his loyalty was something that she had cherished. It was a rare trait for her to find, especially from other wolves. They all had their secrets and deceptions and Laurel was no exception. She had her own ambitions, her own vision for the world, one where she killed every single wolf worthy of her list. And yet with each passing moment she felt fate begin to whisper to her again, making her wonder what path was being laid out for her. The last time she had followed the tingly feeling within it had led her to Ultoris, a place that ended up being an utter failure of a pack. Perhaps that was her purpose, to break those things that had no meaning. Trekking along she looked at the paw prints she left in the dusty sands all around her. This place was so unlike any other and she became lost in her own thoughts oblivious to all else that went on around her.
