Paws carried the youthful pup lightly throughout the land, neither her feet nor mind driving her in any particular direction. As of late she had been feeling rather saddened by the way life had been directing her. Gray was an ambitious creature with goals that she wanted to see herself accomplish; however, a feeling of incapability had been gradually sweeping over her lithe frame. With a delicate sigh the female paused her forward movement to kick lightly at the dirt beneath her. All of her life she had been struggling to grasp the meaning behind her pain, to establish the reason that such a burden of hurt was hers to carry. She was a generous wolf, one that longed to bring joy to others and help them in any matter possible - why was she cursed with such internal sorrow.
Her eyes drifted upward, staring at the clear, peaceful sky that surrounded the world. Only the deities above could answer her questions; alas, they had left her with nothing but silence and confusion as of late. The female tried to force the negativity from her mind, for she was typically a canine filled with optimism and bubbly excitement. This was unlike her; however, the hurt within her chest still kept itself burrowed there. The roots of sorrow still grasped onto the depths of her heart. She felt so very alone. Her siblings had passed when she was very young and the female longed to remember them, but she could not. They deserved to be remembered for they were the epitome of innocence. Repeatedly she had raked through her memories in hope for one where she could see their beautiful little faces. They had all been so young, too young for the life to drift from their bodies.
Yet, within her sorrow she found herself thankful. Her life had purpose, that was why she had been the survivor. It was not to say that her siblings were less important, but she was blessed with the opportunity to see the world - and so she would. Gray had always wanted to know the territories of Kairos and beyond, in a way she felt she owed it to her siblings. She needed to live a life worthy for all three of them, since she was the only one who could. No matter what should befall her, she needed to remember the importance of herself and her own capability - something that would forever be a struggle without other's reassurance.
It was not just her own struggles that plagued her youthful mind, but her mother's as well. Avacyn was beautiful and Gray believed that within the sick canine there was someone absolutely wonderful; however, it was someone that she hardly knew. Gray knew not the full reasons for her mother's illness, only that it was something that the female had the strength to fight through. Even if her elder could not see it, her daughter could. It was with pure desperation that Gray longed for her mother to get well, she needed her. Hektor had his own life and two families to care for alongside his pack duties, which frequently brought her feelings of being a burden. Gray didn't want to become a nuisance to her father, always seeking him out and requesting his time and attention.
Today, she found herself hoping to stumble across her sire though. At least if she inadvertently found him then maybe she would feel less of a nuisance. Gray had news to tell him, things that she had thought deeply about regarding her future. If she did not set her mind to something, then surely the sorrow would consume her and that was unacceptable. One way or another, Gray would make her family proud while achieving her dreams. She saw the purpose that her father held within the pack and she longed to have a similar standing. A light smile poised itself upon her features at the thought and the female continued on wandering throughout the lands.
