History:
Eternia comes from a litter of two, however her only sibling was born without a heartbeat and she was born without her sight. Both her parents were natives of Anikira. She never knew much of her father due to the fact that her mother didn't speak much of him, and Eternia doesn't remember him being around much in her younger years at all. She knew her mother as Avianne. The most important lesson her mother taught her was to hold her head high and believe she could do anything, because if she didn't believe in herself, then who would?
Due to her blindness, Eternia was at a constant disadvantage growing up. She was unable to go out and play with other pups her age, or stray far from her mother at all without being called back. This lead to her smaller girth and leaner build since she was unable to put much focus on increasing her muscle mass. Blocked off from most of the wolves her age and unable to perform silly pup duties, Eternia fell into a sort of depression due to the inactivity. On her particularly bad days her mother would always reference a great Jiklom, a god most Eden wolves know as Elohim. Avianne would assure her that no matter how bad the day, that by talking to Jiklom all her worries and stressers would dissolve. So it was that Eternia was first introduced to her now prominent religion, but instead of an Almighty God, her savior was the best friend she'd never been able to have. By the anniversary of her second year, Eternia had been having consistent dreams where her and Jiklom would either frolic and play or simply talk about the past weeks events. Most wolves thought she was crazy when Eternia spoke of such dreams, especially as she grew older. Even her own mother became rather worrisome about the so-called dream from Jiklom.
Halfway through her second year, Eternia's mother had become fatally ill. At this time Eternia and her mother had been traveling with a small group of wolves. The group had their own healer, and when Avianne became ill the group was more than willing to put down temporary roots. It was then that Eternia became interested in herbs and local flora. She stayed close to the healer, who helped her train her snout to identify certain herbs and how to concoct specific remedies for different ailments. She still have dreams where Jiklom visited her, but they became less frequent as Eternia's faith plummeted as her mother's health declined. How could he let this happen? Her mother was all Eternia had ever had. She was scared to imagine a life without her mother at her side.
Her mother soon passed, and after the burial Eternia became lost in her depression once again. The small group of wolves that she'd known had decided to move on, due to the incoming winter storms and lack of prey. But they couldn't get Eternia to move from her mother's grave. She went days without a proper meal, nibbling on just enough to get her by as she guarded her mother's final resting place from scavengers. The first snow came and Eternia was on a quick path to freezing to death when she'd dreamed of Jiklom. She hadn't heard from him in moons, and had previously thought that he too had deserted her. Jiklom told her that she must get up and travel south, away from the cold, because he had a great plan for her. Eternia resisted, but Jiklom wouldn't have it. The next day he'd sent a Grizzly with her cub into the area, giving Eternia no choice to flee for be slaughtered by a protective mother bear. The only reason Eternia knew this was because she was visited by Jiklom the very next night and he told her this himself, promising that if Eternia tried to return to her mother that he'd provide a similar situation to drive her away. "I have plans for you," he told her. "...plans that do not include sulking here alone when you have so much more to offer the world."
And he was true to his word. Eternia had tried to return to her mother's grave twice more, but was driven away due to what seemed like natural circumstances. Soon she conceded and left the burial ground permanently. Under the direction of Jiklom she'd found a new group of wolves to accompany during her third year. She learned to hunt and protect herself, despite her blindness. She spent the majority of her time continuing her study of herbs and natural remedies until she'd learned all there was. It had been a hard year, the hardest of her life no doubt. She'd learned to trust her instincts and gut feelings, especially when it came to meeting new wolves. Her dreams with Jiklom became more spaced, but this time her faith did not waiver. He had hand delivered her to a new and proper home where he had known she'd grow and thrive. And yet, it was clear his plans with Eternia were not complete.
During a particular dream Jiklom had come to Eternia and said, "Now that you've learned to provide for yourself and found yourself a new happiness, it is time to move onto the next chapter. You've learned all you can from these wolves, and now it is time for you to trust me to show you something new." And without question, Eternia made plans to leave. She explained to her fellow wolves that she'd had a dream of Jiklom, telling her it was time. These new wolves were also of religion, and wished Eternia the best of luck in her journey. Her heart had clenched tight in her chest during those first few paw steps away, but there was also something new next to the fear; excitement for the unknown.
Personality:
Blind since birth, Eternia has a heightened sense of smell and hearing. She depends on her sense of smell to differentiate between the herbs found throughout the land during scavenging and restocking the pack's supply. With this method she is able to locate herbs that are fresher or more ripe, which are in turn stronger in their medical effects. Eternia uses her hearing to identify when a wolf is near by listening for paw steps and a heartbeat if they are close enough. She depends on her sense of smell to differentiate between other wolves.
Eternia is nothing if not honest, sometimes brutal. She prefers direct conversations and has a special distaste for stupid questions. Without a sense of sight, Eternia had lost interest in tip-toeing around other another wolf's feelings at a young age. She will say what needs to be said regardless of how another may take it. This is because she cannot see the discomfort it causes other wolves. She is sometimes chastised for being brash.
The blind healer has been challenged since birth, but has managed to stay afloat. Much of the credit goes to her strong relationship with Elohim, but credit is also due to her own strong spirit. She has a drive to help those in need, even those with the slimmest of chances for survival. However, just because she helps the physically weak does not mean that she is patient with those weak in mental regard. Wolves who pity themselves or believe that they are not strong enough or good enough in some shape or form tend to irk Eternia. She knows what it is like to feel that way. She was able to rise from that state of mind, and believes others are capable of the same.
Not long after her first birthday, Eternia began to have unique dreams. In these dreams she was visited by the almighty, Elohim. He became her rock, someone to confide in and vent to. The dreams were frequent at first, but as she aged they came and went with longer periods of time in between until they seemed to dissipate altogether. Despite the absence, Eternia has remained devoted to Elohim. She believes everything that happens happens for a reason, and that when hard times come to shove the Great Elohim will carry his followers through the struggle towards a better life.
