He was full grown, and standing at thirty five inches and two hundred pounds, Caelum was a force to be reckoned with. He was still small compared to his half sister, Tanha, but that did not mean he was tiny. He had been practicing his skills of hunting and fighting, and at over a year old, he was growing more and more capable with every day. It was early morning when he finally left the lands that Ravenis had settled into and made his way slightly north into yet another unclaimed land. He did not quite have the skills to begin trespassing on other packs territories, and he knew that his mother and father would be furious if he began to make trouble for Ravenis without being able to back them or himself up. So instead he kept to unclaimed territories, looking for entertainment and perhaps a meal near the Edge.
It was nearing mid day as he reached the edge of the trees, his mismatched eyes scanning the treeline in search of any sign of food. But he knew that he would need to take cover in order to avoid being seen by the wildlife in the area. So, instead of standing around like an idiot and waiting for something to just crawl right up to him, he pushed his way into the trees and settled down in the shadows to wait. The longer he laid there, the darker the sky became, but not because of the hour, but because of the clouds that began to block the sun overhead. Eventually snow began to fall, and his eyes lifted to search the heavens for the source of such a thing. But he was greeted with nothing but grey clouds, and he frowned at them before allowing his eyes to search the open landscape before him once more.
After what felt like hours a small layer of white covered the grasses in front of him, and when another hour had passed to add another layer, he spotted the first signs of a herd of small deer-like creatures. He watched them silently, barely allowing himself to breathe until they were several yards in front of him. And yet he still waited. He studied the herd carefully, searching for any signs of weakness that he could take advantage of. At first he saw none, but the longer he watched the more easily he could tell that there were at least two deer that appeared to be injured. Using the freshly fallen snow and the rocks that littered the field around him to his advantage to keep him hidden from view. It took him several minutes, but eventually he was close enough to finally strike and he leaped forward, his jaws aimed directly at one of the two injured deer. The herd scattered at the sudden presence of the predator, but his target was not fast enough to dodge his attack. Instead it fell beneath his paws, and within moments his jaws were closed on the jugular, ending the life of the creature and holding it steady as it cried out and struggled while the rest of the deer disappeared into the trees behind him.
(open to anyone ^.^ Fair warning, Caelum is a bit of a stuck up asshole!)
He Walks. "He Talks." He Thinks.
