He returned home quickly. Hektor had left Ser'eri briefly to see what had become of the pack to the south of Kairos lands, and he was not please with what he had discovered. Not only were they still present, they were also aggressive and held at least one diseased creature in their midst. He had left quickly, having no desire to contract the disgusting disease himself, but he had been careful to fully mark the borders before he returned his his home. It had taken him hours, but he was anxious to return to A'ia and ensure she was alright, so he rushed himself through the process as quickly as possible. Finally he headed back into the heart of Ser'eri, his nose to the ground as he sought out the female he adored so much. He needed to make sure she was safe, needed to make sure that this disease had not touched her pretty form.
And so he went to their favorite place, Layrun Trench, to see if she was there waiting for him. Though the snows of winter did not reach this far south, he could still feel an eerie chill in the wind as he came up on the trench, sniffing the air and frowning as he searched for her. But she was not there, or at least not in that moment anyways. He moved forward, lowering his head to drink from the swelling waters. They did not get snow in Ser'eri, but during the winter months they did receive more rain than usual, which filled and sometimes flooded the water sources that the pack had throughout Kairos lands. It was a good thing, and a lot of the prey from the north ventured south for the warmth and the resources that the north lacked during the snowy season.
There was also another reason why he worried so much over his mate. She would be in season again, and he had to ensure that no other males dared touch her. He doubted any Kairos wolves would be bold enough to rape a General's consort, but he was uncertain what other creatures had wandered into the pack territory while he had been away. At least he knew Dahlia was deep inside Kairos lands, well away from where anyone might attempt trespassing. She had ventured to Vor'asa, and though he was certain that she would not complete her Agoge, he was sure she had a reason for being away for so long. Since he had not picked up her scent moving east or south through Ale'ina or Ser'eri, he was certain that if she had gone anywhere it was north to Ina'mos where she would also be safe.
His sons, however, he had not seen in quite some time. It seemed as if they had all but disappeared, and the thought of something happening to them made him growl low in his throat. But they were strong boys and they would be fine, he was certain of it. But his females needed protecting. When he finished his drink he lowered his hips into a sitting position, his tongue lolling out the front of his mouth slightly as he panted softly. He needed a short break before he continued his search, desperate to find the Isles female that he had worked so hard to protect up until now. Though he had forced her to stay with him initially, the pair had grown to love one another equally, and their relationship had changed after the birth of Dahlia and the boys. She had become softer, more affectionate, and he had been even more loving.
With his other consort gone, he now focused all his attention on A'ia, and he would not want it any other way. In fact, the male was certain that he did not know what he would do if anything every happened to her, if anything ever harmed her. The male shivered slightly at the thought, surprised at how angry it made him so quickly. He wanted her close again, wanted to feel her fur blending with his and her warmth against his side. That, and he was desperate to smell her heat scent once more. There were faint traces of it everywhere, so he knew she had remained faithfully inside of Ser'eri, but the remnants were nothing like having her beside him, beneath him during this time of year. He shivered again as his mind wandered, and after a few minutes he sighed heavily and groaned, shaking his head and stepping into the cold waters of the Trench to distract himself at least temporarily.
