Somehow, things always lead to this moment- the young Dire mix standing in front of the dreary waters of Drarynough, watching the sunlight dance across the surface and the trees on the far side of the massive lake wave in the breeze as she attempted to collect her thoughts. Rather than being filled with negative thoughts as she had been during most of the other times she had visited Drarynough, however, Maliah was actually optimistic about the course her life was taking for the first time in what seemed like eons. The voice inside her head had been relatively quiet for several months now- although she was not going to be fooled into thinking it had dissipated entirely, for it would likely choose the worst possible moment to rear its ugly head again, and she had to be prepared for the eventuality- and she had managed to form a meaningful relationship with a wolf in the pack that was outside the circle of her immediate family in the form of Saphira, the former Valyn member who she had befriended.
Even her place within the pack was finally settled, having earned herself the position of Constable within Vasilios. Though she had not interacted with her siblings in some time and had already resolved to seek them out again sometime soon, Maliah felt content with her life for the first time in what seemed like eons, able to do something as simple as sitting at the edge of a lake without having her thoughts race and her breathing quicken. The future had never quite looked so certain for her before, so within reach, and the Dire mix intended to savor the moment while she was still allowed to do so. The voice within her head had taken so many things away from her- her brother, her parents, her sense of trust towards other individuals- but it would not take her one minute of relative solitude away from her. That much she could guarantee.
There were still some uncertainties that remained in her life- where she would go about getting the necessary combat experience that she needed to become a Constable, for example, or how she could go about getting within Dione's good graces again after spending so long isolating herself from the majority of the pack's members- but for now she was content, and that was all that mattered. Lowering herself into a seated position, Maliah inhaled a deep breath of the air coming off of the distant mountains, her tail wagging softly across the grass behind her as she meditated in peace.
