[attr="class","pltxt"] Alina knew that she should not be out in the cold like this, especially when she could barely stand the snow without Arche by her side. Something had pulled him away from her and she took the opportunity to explore. It had been a long time since she returned to her home and yet she spent so long of it tucked away with Arche in their dens. Sometimes she hated the fact that she was so ill suited to the northern climate. Instead of getting to patrol and hunt with her beloved she remained inside for more of the winter. Now of course she was freezing cold as she roamed about but she was too stubborn to return to her dens just yet. The excitement from her pregnancy was driving her insane and she needed to release some of her pent up energy. It had been a short time since she and Arche had mated, but her body knew the signs. They were the same as her first litter. Her body was beginning to plump and change in the way it needed to bear her pups. It had been so long since her last birth that she was also nervous about it as well. Her and Arche were both old so she was unsure how she would handle giving birth this time.
A part of her wanted to continue having children, but she also knew that her time might be near to start looking to other pleasures, like grand pups. Sighing at the thought she picked her way across the fresh snow, shivering as she went. It was likely she would need to return to her den soon, lest she freeze to death out here. Plus she also needed to be mindful of the lives she was growing in her belly. She already felt full and her movements were slower as she went, her body adjusting to the needs of her young. Soon she would hardly be able to walk, reduced to a waddle. For now though she would enjoy her time and try to return to the dens before Arche noticed that she was missing. He would no doubt worry about her and she didn't want him to stress. After all he had enough on his plate dealing with the merger with Foraz and all of the new wolves who were a part of Aludri now. She also knew that he was excited for their pups. He had always been a good father and a loving mate. It was one of the reasons she found it so easy to commit to having pups. She knew that if anything happened to her Arche would still be here to look after them. Similarly she would protect his young with every fiber of her being if need be.
Taking a few more minutes to enjoy the snow she turned to head back to the den. At least until something caught her eyes. A tree branch had broken and fallen to the ground, a rather sizeable one. Alina moved over to inspect it, glad she had not been close enough when this thing came down. The tree looked dead as it was, probably ready to fall down all on it's own. In fact the longer she looked at it the more convinced she was that it might blow over any moment. A large gust of wind came blowing through the forest and that's just what it did. Alina heard the creaking and cracking and the tree began to sway back and forth. Turning on her heel she ran as furiously as she could, trying not to get squashed. Only when she heard the tremendous thud behind her did she feel brave enough to look. It had fallen the opposite direction from her, thankfully and hadn't made her into a pancake. Her chest heaved and her belly ached though from running too hard and she sat down for a moment trying to recover her strength. After all she still needed to make it back to the dens before the cold got worse.
