She hated it here.
After escaping from under her father's oppressive rule and striking out on her own, after promising herself that she would never again bend to the whims of a male, Dyani had found herself violated and imprisoned by this barbaric pack that called itself Khalsa, all for attempting to rest her aching limbs and get a proper meal in her before night fell and she was forced to find shelter. Perhaps she had been a bit short towards them, yes- but who could have blamed her, seeing two large males treating her so aggressively after she had just barely managed to escape from the harsh treatment that her own father had subjected her to all those years? Who could have blamed her for secretly being afraid of just what they could be capable of, which had lead to her lashing out and subsequently being punished for it? Though Dyani could not think back on her own violation for fear of her traumas consuming her, the Red mix's anger and hatred towards Beowulf and Kalique- the two males who had found her in the desert and put her through such tortures- burned inside her like a raging fire, hardening her resolve to never forget what they had done or forgive them for it regardless of just how long she would be trapped within Khalsa's lands.
The next time that she was alone with either male, the next time that they showed any signs of vulnerability towards her, she would slit their pathetic throats and run for the hills. That much she could ensure, with all the power and dignity that she still held within her.
In order to keep herself from completely withdrawing into her mind and giving in to the shadows that lurked there, taunting her with old traumas and threatening to tear down the walls that she had tried so hard to build around her psyche, Dyani had been wandering. She was not stupid enough to imagine that she could flee from the Occasus during the day, when most of the Khalsa members were actively patrolling, nor did she imagine that she wouldn't be under constant scrutiny in her time within these lands, given that the brutes that called this pack home clearly saw her as nothing more than an object to be used at their leisure. She would escape from here eventually, if driven only by her determination and resolve to not let males have control over her again- but first she had to think of a cohesive plan for escaping the lands of Khalsa, and wandering was precisely what would allow her to formulate such a plan. If she could manage to poison her own father using nothing more than her own intellect and skill- as well as relying on a great deal of luck- then surely she could leave this wretched place before the brutes that had dragged her here even noticed that she was gone.
But even wandering and being lost in her own thoughts was exhausting, after a time, and Dyani figured that she might as well take advantage of the fact that she was now a "member" of this ghastly excuse for a pack while she could by making use of the resources around her. Her paws pressing into the soft sand that bordered the river, the Red mix lowered her muzzle demurely to take a few gentle sips from the water, lifting her head to watch the excess droplets take the suicide plunge back into the river's surface before stepping away from the edge. Lowering herself into a seated position, Dyani was about to be content with the relative peace and quiet that she had been afforded for a change, taking in a deep inhale of the desert air in spite of herself- at least until the sound of pawsteps sounded in the foliage behind her, causing her head to whip around while her eyes narrowed into blue slits, a growl already beginning to rumble within her throat. "Do you brutes think me incapable of going anywhere without a chaperone?" she spat, the fur along her spine rippling with anger. "Or do you simply want to use me as a glorified punching bag again?"
