Idina
She Talks, She Thinks Dmitry Talks
Weeks had passed since her mother's death and while the wound was still fresh in her heart, Idina had always covered her true feelings with a veil of coldness, earning her the nickname of Ice Princess in her family. Idina had never been in a pack, or in a group larger than a few wolves and thus she had avoided the major packs of her homelands, but she really only knew a few by name and reputation. Khalsa was a pack built on male dominated strengh, where females had little value other than as battling queens or missunderstood consorts. Ravenis was led by the former Devil of a pack called Elysium to the west and was full of betrayers and bloosthirsty wolves who barely controlled their tempers. The only other pack she knew of was Kairos, it was proberbly the biggest pack on the continent which frightened Idina, a wolf who had never been around more than two or three wolves in her entire life. She had heard less nasty things about the male who ruled Kairos but she held no love for packs that split families or took wolves unwillingly as all packs tended to. The female had thus kept to the edges of claimed territories and if she did encounter a pack wolf, she would flee without a glance back.
She had never tresspassed on their land, nor had she send out a call so most gave up the chase and returned to their lands and those who didn't.. well... they would never find their bodies.. not that Idina had killed them.. no she had promised her mother to never take a life, but who was she to deny them fresh meat? It certainly wasn't her who lined the meat with poisons? No they were victims of their own foolishness. It was survival of the fittest in this world, as Idina had learned at a young age. It was a screech rather than a growl that drew Idina's attention though. There at the bottom of an old tree, long dead lay a white feathery creature squeeling in pain from an injury to what Idina could only assume was its wing. The featherly thing had eyes that appeared far to large for it's small head and she almost fell over in shock when it looked directly at her despite it's body being the opposite way.
Idina stared at the creature while it snapped it's beak at her and it was with a start that she realised that she could understand the creature. " Stupid wolf, standing there staring at me... go make yourself useful and get me something to fix my wing" Idina blinked slowly at the creature's distinctly masculine voice before she managed to open her mouth in a reply. " What are you and why can I understand what you are staying?" The feathered creature stopped its srieaking and fixxed it's huge eyes on her. " You can understand me?" the creature looked as suprised at this information as Idina and she could only nod her head in responce, still transfixed by the creature's strange appearance. The bird moved towards her on it's talons, she noted how they seemed to be ils digging into the soft ground as it moved and on reflex she took a step backwards and the creature stopped approaching her, eying the wolf with the same interest as she was offering it.
It was a strange looking creature, with a small body, rather large head, a pair of rather large wings covered in grey and white feathers, the left wing stood out to the female one bent slightly at what she could only assume was it's elbow at an unnatural angle. In her years of experience Idina recognised the signs of a dislocation but she had never operated on a bird before, that is if this creature even wanted her help. However the one feature that stood out to Idina was the pair of enomous eyes, taking up more than half of the creatures face, with a small curved beak that she could only assume would give rather a nasty nip if she got to close. The eyes stood out to Idin, mostly because of how the deep amber seemed so intelligent, and the name of the creature before her appeared in her mind, almost if her mother was there telling her. This funny looking big eyed bird was an owl and it was hurt.. and judging from the look on it's beak, rather suprised.
"I have never meet a wolf who understood me before, I am Dmitry" The owl offered it's name to Idina lifting one talon into the air as if trying to get her to shake it, Idina just stared at it until the bird lowered it's talon and ruffled its feather's and then much to her astonishment, turned it's head almost all the way behind it seemingly transfixed with something in the bushes before Idina spoke and the creature's head returned to normal " Well there wolfie are you going to introduce yourself or are you just going to stare some more...?" The owl looked annoyed now so Idina snapped herself out of her stupor and opened her maw to speak once more. "You are an owl... I am Idina, not wolfie" she offered her name in a clipped tone and the bird looked at her with it's oversized yet admittedly wise eyes " I am a snow owl to be precise, not one of your common brown owls" Dmitry scoffed at her, clicking his beak in mock disappointment. " My apologises, I could not help but overhear your trouble with that wing" Idina got to business. The time for staring at the strange creature was over, it was time to see if the creature even wanted her help or if she could even help him in the first place. " Ah yes, I seemed to have moved my wing out of place and it hurts very much" Idina could not help but scoff at the creature, it seemed awfully feminine to complain about something as simple as a wing but she ignored her concerns. She was a wuss when it came to pain so she did sort of understand. " May I take a look? I am a healer and while I don't know much about owl wings I have fixed a few ducks in my life " She did not bother to mention that the ducks wings had been hurt because of her brother's hunting and she only fixed the wings to get them to stop squarking before the family ate the sorry creatures. She did not feel hungry at that moment and knowing that she could understand the owl mean't it was difficult for her to justify killing it.
" Oh... my luck indeed, the first wolf I find that understands me happens to be a healer... DO YOU THINK IM STUPID GIRL. I am not some canary that falls for cheap lines,How do I know you will do as you say and not eat me?" Dmitry scolded the female and her ears flattened against her head, Idina may not claim to always be an honest wolf but she did not take her duties as a healer or her promise to her mother lightly. Instead the female jumped at the bird and due to the injury he could do little to get her off him. " DON'T YOU EAT ME!!" He screeched in her ear but Idina ignored him, she was used to enforcing her will on others but the squirming bird was making the repositioning of his wing difficult, there was many bones in a wing and she did not want to risk breaking any by an overzealous patient.
