Lisanna was tired. The little female's belly had begun to swell with pups faster than she had expected it to, and now she found herself moving slower and taking more frequent breaks when she moved about the territory that Ravenis had settled in. She had heard rumors that Mara planned to officially claim it eventually, but so far their stay there had been uncontested. She was perhaps nearing the halfway mark in her pregnancy, and though she knew she would still grow larger, she felt like she was already reaching the point that she thought she would explode. The delivery process from her previous litter frightened her, and she silently prayed that this time around she would not be tortured so much to bring the little lives within her into the world.
But this time was different. She was no longer in heat, a fact that she had made sure to be sure of before she had left the caves and the safety of Masyn's shadow. She carried his pups and his alone this year, and just the thought of it made her heart swell with pride and happiness. And yet she could still remember the despair and hurt she had felt when Erza had unleashed all of her pain and anger on her. She had been so upset, and Lisanna truly had not known what to say to her. She could carry pups and birth them, yes, but she was certain that she was not a wonderful mother. She did not have the constitution to raise pups, and she definitely did not have the strength to stand up to her half-wolf daughter like she should have.
Instead she had crumbled, and she was determined to do better in the future. Maybe this litter would be different. With a heavy sigh she pushed herself back up onto her feet from where she had been sitting and slowly made her way over to the Pools of Clamor. Perhaps the majority of Anikira thought them cursed, but so far the wolves of Ravenis found that they were a good place for a drink and the echoes of the cries from below were a comfort to some. But that was just how the creatures of Ravenis lived. Though the land was not claimed officially the little dog felt safe there, and she knew that she was close enough to the caves to find refuge if necessary. Still, there were few strange scents and she never saw a single canine that did not belong to Mara's pack. When she reached the edge of the water she lowered herself down into a laying position, her head eventually dipping so that she could lap at the cool water daintily. It tasted fresh and cold as it slid down her tongue and into her throat, and when she finished her drink she sighed softly and closed her eyes to enjoy the feeling of the sun on her back.
