They had traveled far in a surprisingly short amount of time. While Eve led the way, Solari followed at a slightly slower pace, perhaps keeping track of their surroundings or simply just lagging for no reason at all. Either way, the pair maintained a closeness that was typically rare between wolf and hyena. Though they had only known each other for perhaps a year or so, they were already closer than Eve had ever been to her siblings or parents. Her previous pack seemed little and inconsequential to her, and Solari's pack had been run by a different female's mother. The matriarch had seen her as a threat, which meant she was treated poorly and it was ultimately why she took her leave of them. Now she and Eve moved west on Anikira, moving through unclaimed territories whenever possible and picking up their pace to avoid conflict when they moved through the claimed territory that they came across.
Eventually they found themselves at the edge of a large forest, which took them several days to move through. Their progress was slower there, for the roots and moss and predators within the forest posed multiple threats. They encountered a couple of large predators, but when faced with not just a wolf, but a wolf and a hyena, they chose not to confront them. After several days in the trees they were both relieved to step out into the sunlight that illuminated the Shores of Lye, and Eve breathed a sigh of relief as she looked out over the water in the direction she had been told held Ina'mos. She knew this had been the epicenter of Kairos in the past when her grandmother had been a member, and she wondered if the pack still laid claim to the formidable island. There would only be one way to find out, but for the time being the pair decided to rest and regain some energy from their travels.
As luck would have it a small pack of coyotes nearby had managed to take down a doe within the trees several yards from where they came out into the open. With a single glance at one another the pair of females charged the group, snapping and snarling and sending them away yelping with their tails between their legs. Then they proceeded to drag the carcass back into the open with them, where they began to eat their fill side by side. With their backs to the water they kept their eyes on the trees, ensuring that no one would come from the continent of Anikira to steal their prize from them before they had eaten enough of it. Thankfully they were not forced to defend the carcass for long, for eventually the narrowed and glowing eyes of the coyotes from the shadows of the trees retreated for good. When they finished eating the pair laid down on either side of the carcass, grooming themselves and sunbathing as they waited for the sun to set so that they could sleep and continue their journey to Kairos in the morning.
